Children's Section 2026
The Children's Section is one of the most colourful and creative parts of the Ryedale Show, giving young people the opportunity to showcase their talents, imagination and practical skills in a fun and friendly competition.
Open to children from EYFS through to Year 11, the section includes classes for art, photography, baking, crafts and model-making, all with an agricultural or countryside theme. Entries are displayed in the Children's Marquee, creating a fantastic exhibition for visitors to enjoy throughout the day.
Whether your child enjoys drawing, photography, baking, crafting or simply getting creative, there is a class to suit every age and ability.
🏆 Classes for Every Age Group
Separate classes are available for:
- EYFS
- School Years 1–2
- School Years 3–4
- School Years 5–6
- School Years 7–11
Each age group competes in six classes, including:
- Tractor collages
- Animal drawings
- Recycled farm animal or machinery models
- Decorated homemade biscuits
- Wildlife photography
- Agricultural-themed felt decorations
All work must be completed by the child, with minimal adult assistance.

🎨 Design the Promotional Poster for the 2027 Ryedale Show
The winning promotional poster will feature on the cover of the 2027 Ryedale Show catalogue, making it one of the most exciting classes in the section.
🏅 Trophies, Prizes and Awards
Children compete for a range of trophies awarded across the different age groups, together with special awards for effort, handwriting and the Open Classes.
Prize money is awarded as follows :
- 1st Prize – £3
- 2nd Prize – £2
- 3rd Prize – £1
Points are awarded throughout the section, with trophies presented to the highest-scoring competitors in each age category.
📅 Key Information
- Entries must be delivered to the Children's Marquee by 8:30am on Show Day, or between 3:00pm and 6:00pm on the Monday before the show.
- Judging begins at 9:30am.
- The marquee reopens to visitors at 12 noon.
- Trophy presentations take place at 4:15pm.
- Exhibits and prize money should be collected between 4:30pm and 5:30pm.

The Children's Section is a wonderful way for young people to become involved in the Ryedale Show, develop new skills and gain confidence through friendly competition. Whether entering for the first time or returning year after year, every child is encouraged to take part and celebrate their creativity alongside hundreds of other young exhibitors.
A free child admission pass is available for children submitting five or more entries.
