Why Volunteer?

Volunteering at the Ryedale Show is a great way to be part of one of North Yorkshire’s leading agricultural events, meet new people, gain valuable experience, and contribute to the success of a much-loved community event. Full training and support are provided for all roles.

Office Support Volunteer (Pre-Show)

Provide valuable behind-the-scenes support in the lead-up to the Ryedale Show by helping with a range of administrative and preparation tasks. Duties may include sorting rosettes, laminating exhibitor name cards, producing stewards’ booklets, organising prize cards and exhibitor cards, and completing handwritten cards where clear and neat handwriting is essential. This role is ideal for organised and detail-oriented volunteers who enjoy practical office-based work and contributing to the smooth preparation of the show.

Event Control Assistant

Support the coordination of the show from Event Control by handling radio communications, logging incidents, and assisting with operational oversight. This role is ideal for organised individuals who can remain calm under pressure and communicate clearly and professionally.

Sheep Steward

Assist with the smooth running of the sheep section by supporting exhibitors, judges, and section organisers. Suitable for volunteers who are comfortable working around livestock and enjoy being part of the agricultural side of the show.

Horse Crossing Point Steward

Help ensure the safe movement of horses, riders, and members of the public at designated crossing points. This role is well suited to confident communicators who are comfortable working in a busy equestrian environment.

Show Jump Set-Up and Take-Down Volunteer

Provide information and directions to visitors, monitor crowd flow, and help maintain a safe and welcoming environment across the showground. A great role for friendly and approachable volunteers.
